Our bus drivers are on the frontline of our public network and see firsthand what happens when governments refuse to invest.
It leads to service cuts, declining reliability, and a loss of public confidence in services.
Instead of fixing the crisis, the Libs said they wanted to privatise public assets, like Metro Tas – a move that would only make things worse.
Tasmanians deserve a functional public transport system – one that is safe, reliable, and there for everyone.
So I, Kristie Johnston (Independent MP for Clark), make this pledge to commit to three simple things:
1. Rule out any form of public transport privatisation — now and in the future
2. Preserve existing rail corridors for future transport use
3. Invest in a strong, publicly owned transport network, such as light rail, that keeps our communities connected.
Let’s keep Tassie moving!
