Mr Speaker, my question is to the Premier.
Premier, there has been much talk of significant spending on infrastructure and other capital works when you deliver your state budget this afternoon.
To give the public confidence that this spending will be delivered effectively, efficiently and economically, an adequately funded Tasmanian Chief Engineer should be appointed to advise on technical considerations and reduce the risk of service, project or policy failure.
Premier, we need an independent Chief Engineer to provide impartial and fearless advice on policy frameworks, workforce needs and important purchase decisions.
Premier, will you follow the example of the ACT, Victoria and New South Wales and establish an office of the Tasmanian Chief Engineer?
